New Digs

After fourteen years of teaching about forty students a week and being hands-on at Creative Music Adventures, I’m taking a little break. As many of you know I was up at 4:45 a.m. five days a week to be at a high school where they participated in a curriculum I developed. Keeping that schedule, working on finishing the books/method, performing and producing left little time to sleep.

Putting new siding on my house before taking off…

I’m headed to Los Angeles to catch up with friends who are making records and soundtracks you know, compile all the materials developed for the high school this past year, work with new curriculum for CMA with the current staff, finish a couple of recordings, go hear friends play gigs, volunteer in the communities where kids don’t always have access to music lessons, keep adding to this blog/website, support folks who are starting to use my method and not get rained on for the winter… And maybe go to the beach a couple of times. Basically get charged up, both physically and creatively.

My first playing/singing gig will be at the El Rey Theater on September 17. I was asked to play and sing a couple of songs for the premiere of Ron Howard’s documentary on The Beatles. There are too many all-star musicians to list here on the gig, but you can see most of their names by clicking here.

I’ll be leaving Seattle around the 7th or 8th of September. Once I get settled the blog will resume to it’s regular output. It’s hard to juggle siding and blogging – I never would have guessed.

I really appreciate all the nice responses and emails from the posts over the last few months. Several folks have asked if I plan to travel and work with teachers/perform in other areas besides Seattle. I do plan on doing more of that this year on my break. If you would like for me to do something in your town, drop me a line and we’ll see if it can happen. If you’re in LA, let me know and we’ll connect.

For those of you missing the songwriting output – don’t worry, there is a lot of new material on the horizon.

Thanks for reading and the support. More music stuff to come soon!
