Michael Stegner Lessons
I have been teaching regularly since I was a teenager. My parents were both music teachers in public schools and I absorbed a lot from watching them teach their after-school programs.
I have written a learning method for beginning-level students that is used throughout the US. My more advanced students have received over $1,000,000 in music scholarships at some of the most prestigious colleges/conservatories in the country over the past 10 years. I also enjoy helping adult students learn to play for fun.
I like to keep things light and fun while having standards at the same time. I believe that each student has the potential to find their own artistic voice and work with them to find it.
I have a performance degree in Jazz and Studio Music from the University of Miami in Florida. I still own a successful music school in Seattle (I moved from there in late 2016).
Since moving to Los Angeles I have mostly been producing, writing and performing. I typically reserve a limited amount of time in my schedule to work with students since it’s still a passion of mine. I live in Montecito Heights and teach in that general area.
As a performer, I have been fortunate enough to collaborate or perform with the following folks… Reggie Watts, Louis Cole, Michael Shrieve (Santana), Lee Oskar (W.A.R.), Genevieve Artadi (Knower), Skerik, Wayne Horvitz, Jen Wood, Aiko Shimada, and many more.
Here are some video samples of my students over the years…
