New Music – “Tri” A three part invention of sorts

I just posted a new ambient, electronic piece that was recorded this week. It is three parts that are gradually manipulated in various ways over the course of the piece. I hope you like it!

I’ll be Singing and Playing on June 18 in DTLA

On Monday, June 18, I’ll be playing and singing a set of original songs at one of my favorite venues in Los Angeles – The Resident. And for those of you who don’t like the late shows, we’ll be starting at 8:30. By “we” I mean this amazing group of musicians I’m very excited to perform with. Here is who is playing with me on Monday…

  • Francesca Simone (guitar) – has toured extensively with Beyoncé and Kehlani
  • Maddie Jay (bass) – has her own amazing project called Maddie Jay & the pH Collective
  • Bianca Richardson (drums) – Moonchild, Genevieve Artadi and many more
  • Loren Battley (backing vocals) – Michael Bublé & Pomplamoose

The other bands on the bill are Brent Amaker & the Rodeo and We Are The West. Brent Amaker & the Rodeo are from Seattle and have built a nice following up there. We Are The West is one of the most impressive and musical groups I’ve seen since being in Los Angeles.

Come say ‘hi’ if you come to the show and it would be appreciated if you spread the word among your Los Angeles friends.

Here is our bio in case you want to learn more about the project:

Fate would have it that Reggie Watts, Louis Cole and Michael Stegner all happened to have flat tires simultaneously in a small town in Idaho last September. After meeting in the local tire shop lobby, they struck up a friendly conversation and realized that they each had an affinity for handmade vegetable dumplings. This was the beginning of a musical relationship that has seen them perform in 251 countries and seven states in January alone. Their emotional performances innovate while drawing from their no-wave, shoe-gazing electro and ambient trip-hop heroes.

One guy who saw them in Bulgaria last week said it was the best show he’d ever seen.

Reggie Watts, Louis Cole & Michael Stegner Trio

Reggie Watts, Louis Cole and I will be performing together once again on January, 15 at Zebulon in LA. One of my favorite DJs, Muñeka, will be playing a set as well. The doors open at 8 pm and I’d recommend getting tickets in advance if you are planning to come – the last one sold out.
