Thank You Note – In the Form of a New Release Find My Way

I was made aware by Facebook this morning that my music page has reached 500 followers. As many of you know I’m not a big Facebook or hype person, but I really appreciate that people have taken the time to find and like the page.

To say “thank you”, I wanted to give a sneak-peak to an album I’ve been working on for many years. In the form of a free download or stream to a song…

I’ve been working on a few albums for many years actually (ugh!!!). But this one has been really intense for many reasons. I realized for this group of songs to be as good as I wanted them to be; I needed to push myself into emotional, production, songwriting and quality-control realms that would be uncomfortable and unprecedented for me. I’ve had so much amazing help on this from a very talented circle of friends and musicians (listed below). I’ve also had to learn to sit in a room in front of the track myself after pulling several all-nighters mixing, remixing, rerecording and say to myself, “This isn’t right, I need to start all over.”

This song I originally wrote for my former student, Ariel Pocock, to sing and play on her first record. When it wasn’t used I decided to give it a go myself and I’m really glad it worked out. It’s been a cool journey to mold this over the years into it’s current form.

Here is the track (Right-click this link to download – Find My Way):

Share and email this will all your friends and maybe we can get 501 followers on FB someday!

Lyrics:

I see yesterday laid before me
in a hotel room.
Somewhere my phone rings
but I can’t find another “hello.”
I hear that you will love me.

My shoes get so worn
trying to carry this heavy smile.
My voice gets so weak
trying to scream above my head.

I’m trying to find my way.
Trying to find my way back home.

Afternoon church bells ring
for a wedding that may be mine.
My words have never changed
in the rain a yellow leaf falls.
It may be time.  It may be time.

A train leaves tomorrow
for another time and place.
Don’t wait for my answer
I won’t be here anyway.

I’m trying to find my way.
Trying to find my way back home.
